Oliver Bonas plans UK-wide growth

Fashion-lifestyle retailer Oliver Bonas is looking to expand its UK store network with a target of ten further outlets in the coming year
The chain – which already has 31 shops in the London area and a store in Bristol – is now looking to expand into major regional locations including Brighton, Oxford, Cambridge and Guildford while continuing to grow its London store portfolio in locations such as Moorgate, Shoreditch, Spitalfields, Southbank, Canary Wharf, Marylebone and Queens Park.
The business started with Oliver Bonas bringing back gifts for friends from his travels abroad: interesting things from interesting places. Then came the first shop, opened in Fulham in 1993.
The product range remains as eclectic as ever: women’s clothing, accessories, jewellery, things for the home, some furniture and quirky items that resist categorising. The brand celebrates individuality, cherishes good design and is inspired by the cool, the quirky and the creative. Large parts of the collection are Oliver Bonas exclusives.
Paul Souber of Briant Champion Long – which advises the retailer – explains: “Oliver Bonas traded well during last year and had a strong Christmas period. It opened six new stores during the last quarter including a 3,000-sq ft store in Kensington High Street and a 2,500-sq ft shop in the Bentalls centre in Kingston upon Thames.
“The company is an exciting British lifestyle retailer that knows its target market thoroughly and constantly brings forward new product ranges to attract customers”.
The retailer’s latest development is an own brand handmade furniture range produced in the UK with each piece individually signed by the upholsterer who made it.
