Wilkinson signs up at Edmonton Green

Value home and garden retailer, Wilkinson, will take a newly configured 22,000 sq ft unit at Edmonton Green’s North Square, on a 15 year lease.
The new letting will trigger the major refurbishment planned for the Centre’s North Square, which received planning permission at the end of last year. The regeneration of this part of the centre includes significant improvements to the elevations of all buildings, landscaping, street furniture and lighting as well as the amalgamation and extension of existing small units to create the new Wilkinson store.
The refurbishment works represents a £3m investment in the centre by owner St. Modwen, who recently undertook a £1.5m revamp of the centre’s South Mall and brought a 73 bed Travelodge hotel to the area, which opened in October last year.
Gary Morris, senior development manager at St. Modwen, said: “The success of our recent South Mall refurbishment and our plans for North Square are a vital part of the continuing regeneration ambitions we have for Edmonton Green. We have improved the environment significantly in recent years and our contributions are having an impact on the local area both economically and socially. Wilkinson will be an excellent addition to our retail offer at Edmonton Green and we look forward to welcoming the staff to their new store.”
Wilkinson joins occupiers including Asda, Argos, Home Bargains, Blue Inc, Costa Coffee, Lidl, Poundland and Sports Direct (due to open this year). Footfall currently averages 200,000 per week - a rise of some 10-15 per cent over the last two years.
