Lend Lease has appointed Robert Goodman as the new general manager of Bluewater. He joins Bluewater from Land Securities, where he was centre director for One New Change in London.
Mark Boor, head of retail asset management at Lend Lease, said: "Bluewater requires strong, experienced and innovative leadership. Robert exceeded our criteria and is the perfect person to lead Bluewater through the next stage of its evolution."
Goodman added: "I am very excited to have joined Bluewater at the most important point in its history since opening. The successful launch of Glow in November last year, the constant evolution of Bluewater's offer, and Lend Lease's commitment to further enhancing Bluewater's unique day-out experience mean that expectations are high. Nevertheless, I bring a skill set and insight that complements the highly capable teams at Bluewater and Lend Lease, and I relish the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead."
Robert began work on January 9, which coincided with the news that Bluewater had experienced a strong Christmas, with footfall up by 8 per cent compared to the previous year.
Previously, Robert was centre director at thecentre:mk, and has also held a number of positions in BAA airports, including retail director at Budapest Airport and BAA Scotland, and roles at Gatwick, Heathrow and in France. Prior to airport retailing, Robert gained extensive retail experience with Marks & Spencer in a variety of store and head office roles.
