Pedestrian flows across the UK at the start of the post-Christmas Sales were up year-on-year according to Experian FootFall

UK pedestrian traffic in the week from 26th December 2011 to 1st January 2012 was up 0.5 per cent against the same period a year previously, although it was down 15.3 per cent on the week before Christmas.

According to Experian FootFall, the year-on-year increase in the UK National Index shows shoppers are still incentivised to pick up their post-Christmas bargains in store.

And out-of-town the picture was when with the Retail Park Index showing 2.3 per cent year-on-year growth. This trend has continued throughout 2011 for retail parks, resulting in an overall 0.7 per cent annual increase in shopper numbers.
