Hammerson has strengthened its senior retail team with the appointment of Martin Plocica as retail portfolio director
Plocica brings international retail experience to the role having worked at Simon Property Group in the US for the past 25 years. Starting his career as a shopping centre manager, he then held various positions at head office level working on business development and asset management before focusing on joint venture opportunities in international markets including China and India.
In his new role he will have responsibility for some of Hammerson's major shopping centres including Bullring, Union Square, Silverburn, Highcross and Centrale, and is tasked with growing the value of the assets through development and value add initiatives.
Lawrence Hutchings, Hammerson's managing director for UK retail said: "Retailing is increasingly a global business. There is much we can learn from other markets from retailer contacts and relationships to new and innovative approaches to management, leasing, operations and development.
"We are conscious that we are increasingly being benchmarked in capital markets against our global peer group. Marty's appointment reinforces our commitment to being a world class owner, manager and developer of retail destinations."
