Letting agents replace with in-house team at The Chimes, Uxbridge

Capital Shopping Centres has for the first time taken its property instructions in-house at one its centres after replacing its external agency at The Chimes in Uxbridge with an internal leasing team.
The internal team replaces Lunson Mitchenall which previously handled letting of the 10 year old scheme.
Jonathan Ainsley, director of asset management (south) at CSC, said: “There is a strong and stable retail mix at The Chimes thanks to its wealthy local and office catchment. Building on this retail offer by targeting specific brands will enable the centre to continue to compete at the highest level. At The Chimes the skills of the retail and leasing team in delivering key retailers, combined with the strength of our retailer relationships, means this is the right move for us.”
The move follows a growing trend of landlords and retailers speaking more directly with each other. However while the change at The Chimes is a first Ainsley insisted it doesn’t mark a change of policy for all CSC centres.
“CSC is, as is best practise, reviewing its agents across its centres. We believe that there is not a one size fits all approach,” he said. “It depends on the centre, the stage of its lifecycle, and the leasing strategy.”
