Hot on the trail of the opening of McArthurGlen Designer Outlet Athens earlier this year, McArthurGlen Group is under way with the development of a further 120,000 sq m of new retail space.
This new retail space covers the markets of Austria, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands and the UK. In Germany, McArthurGlen is on track to open its 21st McArthurGlen Designer Outlet in Neumünster, near Hamburg, in autumn 2012.
The €120m Designer Outlet near Hamburg, a joint venture with the European Outlet Mall Fund, managed by Henderson Global Investors, will offer around 100 stores in 20,000 sq m of GLA in a first phase, with a further 6,000 sq m due to open in a second phase.
In addition, McArthurGlen is also expanding six of its existing Designer Outlets across Europe, with new phases at Veneto Designer Outlet near Venice and Barberino Designer Outlet near Florence due to open next year.
Gary Bond, CEO Development, McArthurGlen Group, said: “Sales have been well above expectations at McArthurGlen Designer Outlet Athens since it opened in June, while across Europe we are seeing a strong increase in sales year on year.”
