String of lettings at Whitefriars, Canterbury

Henderson Global Investors, on behalf of its UK Shopping Centre Fund, has added to the retail mix at Whitefriars

New arrivals include Café Nero, which has signed a 10-year lease at 31 St Georges Street opposite Fenwick’s department store and with external seating overlooking the city’s Clockhouse Square.at £82,500 pa.

Ecco Shoes which has agreed a new 10-year lease at £55,000 pa and relocated from Mercery Lane to Unit 18 Marlowe Arcade where they will trade alongside Hobbs, Karen Millen and Phase Eight; Kuoni will also be located in the upmarket Marlowe Arcade at Unit 16 and has agreed a 10-year lease at £55,000 pa. And Catch, an independent restaurant which has taken Unit 35 on a new 20-year lease with a break at the fifth year, at £46,700 pa.

Jason Boyce, senior portfolio manager for the Henderson Shopping Centre Fund said: “Notwithstanding the challenging consumer environment we continue to see good levels of demand across our centres (with an average void rate below 1 per cent), testament to the quality of the locations and the benefits that we can offer to retailers whether they be relocating to more prominent positions, entering the town for the first time or even expanding within the town. Whitefriars provides an ideal location for each of the new retailers where they will benefit from the strong footfall and calibre of existing tenants.
