Hammerson appoint Bruce Gillingham Pollard

Published:  04 November, 2011

Hammerson has appointed niche retail and restaurant agency Bruce Gillingham Pollard (BGP) for its catering remit on six shopping centres in its retail portfolio.

Sarah Fox, Hammerson category controller for catering said: “Having worked in the catering industry, the operating complexities that restaurateurs face are different to those that keep a fashion retailer awake at night. We wanted to make sure we have a team working with us that are as passionate and knowledgeable about the sector as we are and as a new agency BGP were just what we were looking for.

“A quality catering offer is vital to maintaining growth within our shopping centres and we have seen continued consumer demand for restaurant brands despite the recession. At our most recent developments sales from catering brands can account for nearly 15 per cent of our sales, demonstrating we have a real opportunity to develop both the catering mix and sales within our established centres.”

(Culverwell is responsible for the leasing at Hammerson’s Scottish centres; Union Square in Aberdeen and Silverburn in Glasgow).
