David Laycock has been appointed as centre director for Land Securities’ £350m Trinity Leeds development.

The 1m sq ft shopping and leisure scheme, which opens in spring 2013, is transforming Leeds city centre and David, who brings considerable experience of launching and managing new centres, has an important role to play in building the community profile of the scheme.

David has worked in the retail sector for more than 20 years. Prior to his appointment by Land Securities he was centre director of The Rock which opened last year in Bury. He previously managed the St Stephen’s shopping centre in Hull and was director of the Metquarter shopping centre in Liverpool.

He said: “Leeds is a progressive city that is rapidly moving forward with Trinity Leeds at the heart of an international-class shopping and leisure destination.

“It is very exciting time to be involved in the development and being able to engage with our stakeholders across the city as this beacon of retail excellence is taking shape.”

Andrew Dudley, who is heading the Trinity Leeds development for Land Securities, said: “With his successful track record as centre director of retail-led regeneration schemes across the north, David is a valuable new member of our team, who will play a key role in the run up to opening and beyond.”
