East Staffordshire Borough Council has resolved to grant planning permission for the proposed extension of Coopers Square in Burton-upon-Trent

Coopers Square, which is owned and managed by Grosvenor, has the potential to be increased in size by 110,000 sq ft with an additional eleven double height shop units and a 55,000-sq ft anchor store. There are currently 70 retail units totalling 385,000 sq ft in the centre. The approved application also proposes a significant upgrade to the adjacent surface car park.
Simon Armstrong, project director at Grosvenor said: “Grosvenor has been exploring the opportunities to extend Coopers Square and improve the surface car park with East Staffordshire Borough Council for some time. We are pleased that the committee has resolved to grant planning permission and this significant first step towards bringing new investment and jobs to the area.”
Coopers Square Shopping Centre was bought by the Grosvenor Shopping Centre Fund in
1999. The fund and the shopping centre are managed by Grosvenor Fund Management.
