The Avenue hosts BodyWorks

Newton Mearns’ Avenue shopping centre is hosting The Glasgow Science Centre’s BodyWorks exhibit this week to entertain and educate families.
The BodyWorks exhibition is a hands-on, interactive learning experience, encouraging investigation into the human body and what it can do.
Centre manager Michelle McCabe said: “Ideal for a family audience, BodyWorks shows you just how amazing your body is, lets you put its flexibility, strength and endurance to the test and gives you a chance to find out just how hard your heart and lungs work – as well as telling you how you can stay healthy.
“Educational as well as entertaining, BodyWorks was hugely popular when it visited the Avenue this summer. Indeed, we had as many adults as children jostling to participate to test their grip strength, balance and co-ordination and lung capacity. It really is a great way to experiment, engage and enjoy learning about how your body works.
“And with our own resident scientist, mall mascot Newton handing out free fruit throughout the promotion, sponsored by Asda, we’re sure that BodyWorks will prove as popular this autumn as it was this summer.”
The BodyWorks exhibition runs from 17- 21 October. On Wednesday 19, BodyWorks science ‘communicators’ will roam amongst shoppers giving them interactive health and wellbeing demos.
