Portuguese fashion brand targets the UK for expansion
Sacoor Brothers, one of Portugal’s best known international fashion and lifestyle brands, will make its UK debut at Westfield London and Westfield Stratford, with plans to expand further in early 2012.
Sacoor Brothers has taken a 2,400-sq ft store at Westfield London and a 1,941-sq ft store at Westfield Stratford that will both open in September 2011. A third store will open in early 2012 at Bluewater in Kent. The retailer is also seeking a new flagship store within Central London and has ambitious plans to further expand across a number of the UK’s leading outlets such as McArthurGlen or Value Retail shopping parks.
Sacoor Brothers, which was established in Lisbon in 1989, currently operates across 33 cities with more than 30 own-stores situated in the largest and most prime shopping centres throughout Portugal, Spain, Benelux, Romania, and the Middle East. CBRE’s cross-border retail team is advising the retailer on its continued European expansion plans and is instructed to acquire additional stores in Benelux, Spain, and Germany.
David Close, director of cross-border retail at CBRE said: “Sacoor Brothers is a high quality fashion brand that is extremely popular in Portugal and will be an excellent addition to the UK’s fashion offering. The UK has been identified as a key retail market and CBRE is currently seeking new store locations in prominent retail destinations in Central London and the best outlet villages in the remainder of the country.”
And Close pointed out that the fashion brand is just one of several that CBRE has introduced to the UK market in the past month, including ‘kate spade new york’ from the USA; Coolway from Spain, and Print’s Design from Singapore.
