Peel submits planning for new food store in Washington

Peel Land & Property has submitted a planning application for a new food superstore at The Peel Centre in Washington

The 87,400-sq ft new food superstore for Tesco would include a petrol filling station, in-store café, 560 parking spaces and importantly create more than 300 local jobs.

For over two decades the only food stores in the area have been Adsa and Sainsbury’s stores at the Galleries. Peel believes that further choice should be offered to local shoppers though an additional store.

Roger Wheeldon, senior development Surveyor at Peel Land & Property said “The new food superstore if granted planning permission give an excellent boost to the area and provide a much greater choice for shoppers, as well as providing much needed jobs in the area”.
