Retailers upsize at The Trafford Centre
Published: 21 September, 2011
Retailers including La Senza, Ernest Jones, Dune and Phones 4U are all increasing their space at The Trafford Centre in Manchester, following on from major store extensions for anchors Marks & Spencer and Debenhams.
Ernest Jones will expand into their neighbouring unit and open a fully refurbished 3,750 sq ft store in October.
This follows a similar upsizing for fellow jewellery specialist Thomas Sabo which moved to a 1,430 sq ft unit earlier this year. Phones 4U will open a second store in the centre in Thomas Sabo’s former unit later this month.
La Senza will move into a 5,000 sq ft store due to open at the end of October.
And shoe retailer Dune opened a new 2,500 sq ft flagship at the end of August.
Julian Wilkinson, property director, CSC Trafford, said: “We always ensure we meet retailers continuing demands for the right sized stores in the right location within The Trafford Centre. These expansions prove the continuing appetite of retailers large and small to invest in The Trafford Centre proving their confidence in the scheme.”
In addition, US fashion retailer Banana Republic has chosen The Trafford Centre for its first store in the north.
Julian Wilkinson, property director, CSC Trafford, said: “The Banana Republic opening is a great letting for The Trafford Centre and follows a number of other exciting deals that have recently concluded at the centre.”
Cushman & Wakefield acted for The Trafford Centre. La Senza was represented by MMX Retail, Phones 4U by CBRE, Thomas Sabo by Wilson McHardy, Dune by CWM and Ernest Jones by RPC. Banana Republic represented itself.
