Six new brands for Bluewater

Published:  02 September, 2011

Bluewater today announced that six brands are to open stores before the autumn.

Totalling over 13,000 sq ft, the latest stores to join Bluewater are:

  • Lego is upsizing to a 4,250 sq ft unit on upper Thames Walk in a move that doubles their floor area at Bluewater
  • Sketchers - 2,250 sq ft store formerly occupied by Lego on upper Thames Walk opposite the entrance to the new Plaza and Events Venue
  • Moss Bros - 2,650 sq ft unit adjacent to O’Neil and Fat Face on upper Rose Gallery
  • Omega - 1,600 sq ft store next to Hugo Boss on upper Rose Gallery
  • Mappin & Webb - 1,600 sq ft store created out of the former Goldsmiths following a re-gear of the lease by Aurum
  • Crumpler - 700 sq ft unit near on upper Thames Walk

Bluewater has experienced a very positive year for new brands, with
26 transactions completed to date.  This follows a record-breaking 2010, during which 34 brands opened new stores at Bluewater.

Commenting on the latest six, Guy Thomas, head of retail leasing at Lend Lease, said: “These latest transactions demonstrate two things about Bluewater.  Firstly, that it is a first-choice destination for brands seeking prime sites from which they can serve a significant proportion of the South East’s most affluent catchment.  Secondly, that, through proactive asset management, we can provide existing brands with opportunities to increase their presence.”

Other brands to have opened at Bluewater this year include Boux Avenue, Radley, Kiehls, Café Rouge and Cote.  In addition, Ted Baker and
Karen Millen have both moved into larger stores, and Forever 21 is to open a 24,000 sq ft store in spring 2012.

DTZ and CBRE acted for Bluewater. CWHB for Lego, Michael Peddar & Co acted for Sketchers, Leslie Perkins acted for Aurum, and BC Commercial acted for Crumpler.
