Fashion brand Superdry and Apple reseller Stormfront have made their Dundee debuts at the Overgate shopping centre.
Superdry had queues outside the door on opening day as shoppers visited in their droves. And Stromfront, which offers Apple’s product range as well as additional services including training and support, saw sales soar as it opened its first Scottish store.
Both Superdry and Stormfront agreed ten year leases on a 4,694 sq ft unit and 1,800 sq ft unit respectively.
Jonny Buckle, portfolio manager at Land Securities, said: “This will be Superdry’s fifth standalone Scottish store and has been as warmly welcomed by Dundee's shoppers as we anticipated. We are delighted to be the first to bring this distinctive brand to the city as a standalone store.”
He added: “We are excited to bring Stormfront to the Overgate shopping centre and are delighted the retailer has reported an enthusiastic start to trading at its inaugural Scottish opening."
For Stormfront, the new branch represents its 11th store opening as it steadily increases its UK presence.
Superdry – part of SuperGroup which includes the Cult retail chain – is one of the fastest-growing retailers in the UK with an increasingly global following. It offers iconic Japanese-influenced clothing and accessories and is celebrated for comfort and cutting-edge style.
Julian Dunkerton, CEO of Supergroup, said: “We are delighted to be increasing our presence in Scotland with the opening of our new store in Overgate. It will stock many of our bestsellers so we hope it gets the seal of approval from shoppers in Dundee. As always with our stores, a lot of creativity has gone into the design so we are optimistic it will enhance our already popular offering in Scotland.”
Cushman & Wakefield represented Land Securities while Jones Lang LaSalle represented Superdry.
