Cushman & Wakefield has been appointed sole letting agent on Centrale shopping centre in Croydon by Hammerson. The 696,000 sq ft town-centre scheme was bought by the real estate company for £98m as part of a portfolio of six retail assets in March.

The centre was originally constructed in 1988 with a redevelopment in 2004. It comprises 61 units and is anchored by Debenhams, House of Fraser, H&M and Next. Croydon is the 13th largest shopping population in the UK with over 455,000 people.

Justin Taylor, CEO of Cushman & Wakefield’s UK Retail & Leisure agency team said: “We look forward to working with Hammerson on this centre which is in a strong trading location and benefits from desirable anchor stores. We believe there is significant potential for improving retailer sales and increasing asset values.”
