New York fashion brand to open in London

As part of plans to attract the world’s leading fashion brands to London’s Sloane Square area, the Cadogan Estate has let a flagship store to Kate Spade New York – the US retailer’s first permanent European shop.
Kate Spade New York was established in 1993 and has more than 400 stores worldwide, including 36 stores in the US. The New York fashion label made its UK debut in October 2010 with a Covent Garden pop-up store that traded for one month.
The new store, which will open in September 2011 on a 10-year lease, will become the Kate Spade New York flagship in the UK and Europe carrying its apparel range as well as accessories and lifestyle product ranges.
The 4,000 sq ft store is part of a redevelopment of the former General Trading Company building, which the Cadogan Estate undertook to create an exclusive destination close to Sloane Square. The store is situated on the corner of Symons Street and Pavilion Road and is located close to high-end retailers Tiffany, Links of London, Hugo Boss, and Cartier.
The Cadogan Estate, advised by CB Richard Ellis, will introduce further retail units to the area in late 2011, including a 7,000 sq ft flagship store on Kings Road and a 4,000 sq ft store on Sloane Square, with the intention of attracting further high-end brands.
Hugh Seaborn, chief executive of the Cadogan Estate, said: “We are delighted to welcome Kate Spade New York to Chelsea and are confident that they will contribute to the continued success of this vibrant shopping area which is at the heart of the Estate.”
