Capital Shopping Centres has submitted a detailed planning application for an extension of the Victoria Centre in Nottingham to Nottingham City Council

CSC is planning a partial redevelopment and extension of the Victoria Centre, which will increase the current scheme of 981,000 sq ft to 1.5 million sq ft . The extension will provide a new department store, 39 additional retail units, and deliver enhanced catering and leisure including restaurants, a health club and 10 screen cinema to the Victoria Centre and create more than 2,000 permanent new jobs in the city.

As well as the extension of shopping, catering and leisure facilities the proposed scheme would also deliver a new modern bus station, replacement car parking, improved pedestrian access and public realm.

Martin Ellis, construction director for CSC said: “The Victoria Centre has been at the heart of Nottingham for 40 years and with over 23 million customer visits a year is the city’s prime retail destination. Our vision is to provide an improved retail and new leisure destination to help maintain Nottingham’s position as a top ten regional centre.”
