Planning approval for Dalton Park extension

Published:  09 June, 2011

Durham County Council’s planning committee has overturned officers’ advice and approved phase 2 of the Dalton Park outlet mall

The next phase of regeneration at Dalton Park will include a cinema, supermarket, an hotel, food and beverage units and a petrol station.

David Alker, on behalf of Dalton Park, said: “We are very pleased that the planning committee approved Phase 2 of Dalton Park and overwhelmingly backed the continued investment in the area.

“Phase 1 of Dalton Park has already proved a huge success and a great boost for Murton and it’s now time for Phase 2 to be delivered bringing a further 500 jobs and all the facilities for the community.

“We are very grateful for all the support we have received from the community and also from Grahame Morris MP – who has worked tirelessly to secure this investment for Easington.

“In light of the Government’s Plan for Growth and localism agenda, we trust that it will not now interfere in the decision taken today by locally elected councillors and supported so strongly by the MP.”
