Hermes Real Estate Investment Managers Limited (HREIML) has announced the appointment of Denise Jeffrey as centre manager at St John’s Centre, Leeds.

Denise joins the centre from Billingham, Stockton-on-Tees, where she was town centre manager, playing a pivotal role in helping to bring forward a £20m masterplan for the regeneration of Billingham town centre.

An experienced centre manager, Denise previously presided over Queen Street shopping centre, Darlington, where she secured impressive results by significantly increasing turnover and footfall while also reducing service charge.

A Wakefield resident, Denise’s appointment sees her returning to Leeds as well as to Hermes where she began her retail career as deputy centre manager of their 275,000 sq ft Headrow shopping centre.

“I am excited to be joining such a successful centre in such a dynamic retail city as Leeds,” said Denise. “Moreover, I look forward to working with the team here and bringing my varied retail management experience to bear for the benefit of our customers. I’m keen to further our engagement with the local community and continue building upon the centre’s successful reputation in order to attract the retailers that our customers want.”

The centre’s managing agents Cushman and Wakefield, added: “We are pleased to welcome Denise to St John’s Centre and look forward to working with her as we continue to cement St John’s as one of the best small shopping centres in the UK.”

Denise’s arrival has coincided with the agreement of two new five-year leases at the centre, to Bakers Dozen and West Coast (Derby).  This follows a flurry of activity at St John’s, with new lettings and renewals secured with Virgin Media, Subway, Discounter UK and NSPCC opening a regional head office in the adjacent St John’s Offices.
