Topping Out ceremony held at The Events Venue, Bluewater

The Events Venue at Bluewater together with construction company BAM, held a ‘Topping Out’ ceremony on Monday to celebrate the final phase of construction of the £60m development.

Local councillor Jeremy Kite, Dartford MP Gareth Johnson, managing director of Investment Management at Lend Lease, Tony Brown, and over 80 guests celebrated the important milestone at a ceremony held at The Events Venue.   
Guests watched a film outlining the vision for the venue and were then shown to The Events Venue’s Gallery Beam space, the future VIP area, for a the ‘Topping Out’ ceremony. BAM presented Lend Lease with a gift – a tradition signifying the importance of the event for both the construction team and Lend Lease.
 
The Events Venue director, Rebecca Cardozo, said: “Today is a very important day for The Events Venue – we are in the final stages of the development and the potential for brands and exhibitors can be seen clearly.  The Events Venue is a ground-breaking destination that positions Bluewater as the future of consumer experience in the UK and continental Europe.  We are very excited to be working with leading exhibition organisers, to create a varied and experiential calendar of events.”
 
Andrew Parkinson, general manager at Bluewater, added: “The Events Venue symbolises the next stage of Bluewater’s evolution.  We are very proud of BAM and the team in reaching this important milestone.  We are also very excited about what The Events Venue signifies.  It will add to our already strong leisure offering and bring a wider choice for our guests.  2012 is going to be very exciting for Bluewater.”
