Henry Boot awaits Burnley decision

Burnley Council will this week consider Henry Boot’s plans for the £40m redevelopment of the Curzon Street site, formerly known as the Oval

Burnley councillors will this week consider Henry Boot Developments’ plans to transform the former Pioneer car park, in Curzon Street. Next and Primark have already been secured as anchor tenants and officers are recommending approval, meaning work could start before the end of 2011.

Sue Graham, head of planning at Burnley Council, said: “In principle, a retail development of this scale is acceptable on this allocated retail site as the development secures sustainable economic growth of a size commensurate with the status of Burnley as a sub-regional centre.”

The development will include 400 parking spaces in an underground car park.
