Digital Easter at The Rock

Published:  20 April, 2011

The Rock in Bury is set to launch a first this Easter with a traditional egg hunt with a digital twist.

The hunt, which uses QR codes to lead participants to discover hidden clues in stores, restaurants and leisure destinations across the scheme, has been developed to drive tech savvy visitors into specific retailers and to build awareness of the scheme.

At the end of the trail, participants will have to answer three questions correctly relating to the hunt to be in with a chance of winning the top prize - a £500 voucher to spend at The Rock.

Participating retailers include Debenhams, Costa Coffee, Hurley, The Entertainer, Primark, M&S, AMF Bowling and Peter Jackson.

Nikki Kitchen marketing manager at The Rock said: “Digital and social media has been a big part of our visitor engagement strategy since launch in July 2010. Latest independent research indicates that 85 per cent of the under 35 audience has directly engaged with our social media activity – but we continually aim to push the boundaries and find new ways to engage with the audience.

“This is a first for any retail and leisure centre in the UK. It’s a practical application of existing technology that delivers on the marketing brief of any centre – to drive footfall and build awareness of content.”

The Rock QR Easter Egg Hunt has been developed by Democracy. It is free to enter and will run from April 16th to April 25th.
