King Sturge appointed on three new shopping centres

Published:  20 April, 2011

King Sturge has picked up leasing and management instructions from the new owners of three shopping centres in Harrow, Harlow and Burnley.

For the St George’s shopping centre in Harrow, north London, King Sturge has been appointed leasing and managing agents by new owner Redefine International . The AIM-listed investment company has exchanged contracts to acquire the 215,300-sq ft centre from Propinvest for in excess of £60m.

This latest instruction follows King Sturge’s earlier appointments by the new owners of the Sapphire retail portfolio. The property consultancy has been appointed joint letting agents on the Harvey Centre in Harlow, Essex, and leasing and managing agents at Charter Walk in Burnley, Lancashire.

European Property Investors Special Opportunities, a fund advised by AEW Europe and Tristan Capital Partners, and Addington Capital completed the £145m purchase of the Sapphire portfolio - including the Queen’s Arcade, Cardiff, which King Sturge already manages - in March. King Sturge advised Addington Capital on the deal.

Adrian Horsburgh, head of in-town retail investment at King Sturge, said: “All three deals provide the new owners with good asset management potential and we will be looking at opportunities to extract maximum value from these town centre schemes.”
