£7m foodhall transformation underway at Meadowhall

Published:  19 April, 2011

A £7m transformation has begun of the Oasis food court at Meadowhall, Sheffield, with works, due to be completed by October 2011, creating a sleek and contemporary 61,000 ft Dining Quarter.

There will be two very distinct areas, a formal 34,000 sq ft dining space on the upper level and a lower level totaling 27,000 sq ft featuring three new specially designed kiosks. In addition, a mezzanine level is being built to increase seating capacity.

The new Oasis Dining Quarter will be host to five new restaurants, including Giraffe, which has signed a 3,433 sq ft unit, following on from TGI Fridays, Wagamama and Café Rouge which joined the scheme in 2010.

Clare Juniper, asset manager for Meadowhall said: “We are creating a more interactive and enjoyable dining experience whilst raising the standards considerably for this very important element of any retail and leisure destination and we are very excited to see how our guests will respond.”

“The success of TGI Fridays and the investment by the joint owners are just two examples of the strength and commitment to this development and Giraffe will be a high profile addition to the Oasis Dining Quarter, offering a wider choice of popular restaurants appealing to everyone’s tastes.”

Giraffe CEO, Russel Joffe, added: “The choice of location for any new restaurant is very important for us and we feel Meadowhall works for our brand across all levels from the customer to location. The Oasis Dinning Quarter is set to raise the bar for all other shopping centres’ and we are pleased to be part of this new development, offering a family orientated experience for guests.”

Smith Young Partnership and Davis Coffer Lyons act on behalf of Meadowhall, Western Ridge represented Giraffe Concepts.
