Capital & Regional founder Martin Barber returns to the shopping centre business in a £500m venture with Lathe Investments

Martin Barber, who founded Capital & Regional has joined forces with shopping centre investor and operator, Lathe Investments, to lead a £500m investment drive into the UK shopping centre market.

Lathe Investments was founded in 1996 by Ian Knight and Richard Perrin and currently co-owns and manages two shopping centres, Castlegate in Stockton-on-Tees and the Ladysmith centre in Ashton-under-Lyne.

It will be looking to build a £500m portfolio over the next three years, with a focus on middle-tier locations targeting shopping centres with asset management and development opportunities.

Martin Barber said: “Lathe has a strong track record of out-performance in the shopping centre sector and I believe that through our combined skills we can take advantage of current market conditions.”
