Beaumont raises £2254 for Comic Relief

Published:  23 March, 2011

A team of Subway staff at Beaumont shopping centre has raised over £2000 for Comic Relief by embarking on a 14 hour bike ride in the centre.

The mammoth bike ride took place in the Subway branch at the centre. The team, led by branch owner Rachana Pancholi, cycled over 301 miles - the equivalent of Leicester to Paris - on exercise bikes.

Pancholi said: “It has been a really tough challenge for the team but to know the money we’ve raised can provide 18 people in Kenya with life-changing trachoma operations to restore their sight is just amazing”.

Beaumont manager Sarah Duffin helped out on the day. She said: “I managed to don my red nose and cycle a few miles to help the team out today. It was brilliant fun”.

The team raised the sponsorship from retail staff in the centre and business contacts as well as family and friends. The centre owners British Land has donated £250 to the cause.
