The Light in Leeds organised a two day wedding fair at the weekend - helping to raise over £1,000 for Marie Curie Cancer Care’s Great Daffodil Appeal.
The Wedding Fair included an exhibition, bridal show and music from Frank Sinatra tribute act, Phil Fryer, and Yorkshire Jazz Orchestra.
The Light donated all proceeds raised from the selling of exhibitor stands to Marie Curie, along with customer donations.
Marie Curie Cancer Care’s Great Daffodil Appeal is hoping to raise over £55,000 in West Yorkshire by hosting a variety of fundraising events in the area. All of the money raised from the appeal will be spent in the area to allow Marie Curie nurses to care for terminally patients in their own homes and provide support for their family and friends.
“We are delighted that The Light chose to support our charity during our renowned Great Daffodil Appeal, said Claire Priestwood, community fundraising manager, for West Yorkshire. “The Wedding Fair was a great success and raised a fantastic amount of money for the Marie Curie nurses across West Yorkshire.
“Our nurses provide high quality nursing, totally free, to give people with terminal cancer and other illnesses the choice of dying at home supported by their families and things they love. It costs the charity £180 to pay for an overnight shift of this specialist care and The Light’s generous support will enable us to help more local families.”
