The second Taco Bell café to open in the UK is up and running at Eastgate shopping centre in Basildon, Essex.
The Mexican fast food chain, which has almost 6,000 restaurants in the US, opened its first UK café at Lakeside shopping centre, Thurrock, last year.
Nick Dawson UK marketing manager at Taco Bell, said: “Taco Bell sees the UK as a very important market for its international expansion and its parent company Yum! is optimistic about the long–term potential of growing Taco Bell internationally. The company’s expansion into the UK comes at a time when the demand for high-quality convenience is growing.
“Taco Bell brings an established track record of excellent Mexican food to the UK market. We have identified a gap in the market, and the company is determined to become the leading quick-service Mexican food brand in the UK.”
North Nottinghamshire based Jephsons Shopfitters, which specialises in fitting out food retail units, was responsible for the Taco Bell fit-outs at both centres.
Nigel Schofield, operations director at Jephsons Shopfitters, said: “Taco Bell has very positive plans for market expansion in the UK and we look forward to working with them and fitting out more cafes, allowing more people to sample the great Mexican food it serves.”
