Abercrombie & Fitch to open in Dublin

Published:  21 February, 2011

Abercrombie& Fitch has given a much-needed boost to the Dublin retail market, taking 2,500 sq m at 34 College Green

The store will trade over three levels of the building which was formerly occupied by Habitat. Opening is scheduled for December 2011.

Larry Brennan of letting agent Savills said: “The deal will come as a major boost to retailing in Dublin with Abercrombie & Fitch joining an impressive line up of national and International fashion and lifestyle brands now trading here.”

A spokesperson for landlord Clarendon Properties said: “We have been negotiating on a deal with Abercrombie & Fitch for the past two years, which has taken a great deal of hard work and patience in a difficult economic environment. The store will be a very welcome addition to the Irish retail sector, representing a sign of the future which hopefully will give confidence to other retailers.”

He continues “This also represents a sign of confidence in Ireland, in Dublin, but particularly in Dublin City Centre as a destination retail area. The location of the new Abercrombie and Fitch store is ideal due to its centre location and proximity to Grafton Street. The decision by Abercrombie and Fitch to choose this building was due in the most part to its prime location and extensive retail floor space spanning over 3 floors.”

It is hoped that the store will open in December following a significant investment in the refurbishment and fit out of the flagship store.
