Colin Wilding, UK Country Manager, McArthurglen
I lead the operation of McArthurglen's 7 UK Outlet Centres with 650 brands and a trading GLA of 1.6 million square feet. During my time with McArthuglen I have also managed both York and Cheshire Oaks Designer Outlets. Having worked both full price and outlet retailing I find the outlet model allows a much more dynamic approach to all areas of Shopping Centre management from churn to a more direct influence over the retail operations of our individual brand partners. The structure of both leases and rental terms encourages a closer partnership based relationship.
Prior to McArthurglen I worked throughout Europe on a consultancy basis with a number of owners and investors, developing as well as buying and selling Shopping Centres of various shapes and sizes on their behalf.
My first appointment into Shopping Centres and property management was at Bluewater with Lend Lease where I was part of the launch team and first management team of the centre.
My career to that point was with a number of Retail Companies ranging from supermarkets to latterly The BodyShop where I spent 10 years supporting the international franchise and country development programme.
