Hammerson wins Peterborough consent

Peterborough City Council’s planning committee has approved a £13m extension to Peterborough’s Queensgate shopping centre

Hammerson plans to start work shortly on a 16,000-sq ft extension, which is believed to have been designed with a specific occupier in mind.

The extension, to the rear of Cowgate, will see the demolition of several smaller units to make way for the new space. Completion is expected in November 2012.

Hammerson still has plans for a much larger extension to the 875,000-sq ft two-level shopping centre on the North Westgate site which would take it to 1.45m sq ft.
