Freshney Place helps women Dress for Success

Freshney Place shopping centre in Grimsby is encouraging its customers to spring clean their wardrobes and donate any unwanted workwear to North East Lincolnshire Women’s Aid.
The Dress for Success campaign aims to help women, who often arrive at the refuge with little other than the clothes on their back, to go to job interviews looking professional and feeling confident.
Shoppers can make donations at Freshney Place’s customer services desk, in return for a 10 per cent discount voucher, which can be redeemed against full-priced items from selected retailers at the centre.
Freshney Place centre director, Amanda Austin said: “Freshney Place worked with Women’s Aid on its successful ‘Have a Heart’ campaign over the festive period and we are delighted to be able to support them with this innovative new campaign.
“We encourage the women of North East Lincolnshire to spring clean their wardrobes and donate any items of clothing they no longer wear – it really will make a huge difference to the lives of women in our region being assisted by Women’s Aid.”
Radio One DJ, Sara Cox, Anthea Turner and BBC Weather Reporter, Keeley Donovan, are all backing the campaign for Women’s Aid, a charity working to end domestic violence against women and children, which provides crucial services to victims and survivors of domestic abuse in the region.
Relying solely on donations, the charity supplies everything women need in order to build a new life for themselves and their children, including free legal advice, emotional support, career guidance and even uplifting Zumba classes.
Kaye Walker, head of marketing for managing agent, Jones Lang LaSalle added: “This is a great new initiative that raises awareness of a very good cause; we’ve already seen a huge amount of interest, and it’s great to have such high-profile celebrity backing, we’re hopeful that this is something that will become an annual event.”
