Land Securities adds to Leeds scheme

Land Securities is preparing to add another 27,000 sq ft to its Trinity Leeds project

Construction is already under way on the million-sq ft Trinity Leeds scheme, with completion due in 2013, but now Land Securities has drawn up plans for a 27,000-sq ft rooftop extension at the adjoining Leeds Shopping Plaza which will be incorporated into the wider scheme.

Leeds City Council planning committee viewed the proposal, which is understood to consist of a single unit to meet a specific retailer requirement, before a formal application is made, and agreed to allow officers to approve the plans under designated powers.

The additional space will help balance footfall across the wider Trinity scheme, and the development will gain a new entrance from City Square.
