The three day Motor Show, exhibited in the centre’s Middleton Hall, opened today and will showcase the world’s first fully hybrid luxury compact car.
The Motor Show is expected to bring 110,000 visitors to the centre, with both families and car enthusiasts eager to catch a glimpse of heritage sports cars and a Formula 1 team car.
Graham Davis, sales manager of Pilling Mazda Renault in Westcroft will be exhibiting the Renault F1 team car that was used in practice for the 2008 Grand Prix. He said: “We hope to attract a big crowd to see the F1 racing car, but we also want to make the stand fun and interactive for the whole family so we are also bringing our Mazda 5 Doodle car. The doodle car is wrapped in vinyl to allow children to doodle and draw pictures all over the car so everyone who visits can make their personal mark.”
The new pre-production Lexus CT 200h, which has been named the world’s first fully hybrid luxury compact car, is one of the highlights. It is a sophisticated full hybrid system which creates near silent driving in electric mode, has class-leading low emissions and superb fuel efficiency.
All of the exhibitors will showcase one or more cars and specialist staff from each manufacturer will be on hand to provide information and discuss test drives and pricing.
