It’s a Wrap at Whitgift

The Whitgift shopping centre in Croydon has raised £20,000 for the Royal Marsden Cancer Charity.
The money was raised as part of the ‘It’s a Wrap’ charity campaign where shoppers were able to get their gifts wrapped by volunteers in return for a small donation in the run-up to Christmas.
Hundreds of visitors took advantage of the service each day resulting in a grand total of £19,898.
In addition, the centre pledged to donate £1 for every Whitgiftcard over £10, adding over £1,380 to the total.
Andrew Bauer, The Whitgift centre manager said: “We are delighted with the total raised and are pleased to be able to continue to support such a worthwhile cause. Our shoppers’ generosity and sense of community continues to impress us, especially at a time when consumers are having to be extra careful with their spending.”
Amanda Heaton, community fundraising & development manager for The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity, added: “We are thrilled that The Whitgift centre has raised the money for The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity. It will help us enhance and develop the cancer services The Royal Marsden already offers to the thousands of patients we see each year and play a part in keeping us at the leading edge of cancer research, treatment and care.”
The ‘It’s A Wrap’ service has been running for fifteen years at the Whitgift, initially as the Lisa Thaxter Trust and recently on behalf of The Royal Marsden. Over this period, more than £610,000 has been raised to help children and adolescents with cancer related illnesses.
