Bijou Brigitte, the German fashion accessories brand, has opened a 1,284-sq ft store at British Land’s Eastgate shopping centre in Basildon
Bijou Brigitte, which earlier this year announced plans to expand in key locations in the UK, is the latest in a series of new or upsized brands to have opened at Eastgate, with a total area of 55,477 sq ft being occupied by 13 brands in the last nine months.
Highlights included Superdry, which opened a 4,116-sq ft flagship in May, the creation of a dual facia 9,069-sq ft HMV/Waterstone’s, a relocation and upsize by TopShop/TopMan into a 9,811-sq ft store, and the extension and refurbishment of New Look to create a 17,530-sq ft store.
Other new arrivals include Barratts (2,500 sq ft), Virgin Media (1,647 sq ft), Aura (1,284 sq ft), GNC (1,185 sq ft) and Dr SpaFish (1,171 sq ft). Complementing the new retailers are a 4,860 sq ft Burger King, 1,741 sq ft Taco Bell and a 563 sq ft Subway.
Commenting on the new brands to open at Eastgate, Steve Hadfield, asset manager, said: “Bijou Brigitte is a great addition to Eastgate and they are already proving popular with consumers. They complete a drive by British Land to enhance Eastgate’s offer by upsizing key retailers and introducing new brands that offer consumers something different.”
Jones Lang LaSalle and Angermann, Goddard and Loyd acted for Eastgate. Cushman & Wakefield acted for Bijou Brigitte.
