HMV and Waterstone’s are to trial a double-fascia format at Fort Kinnaird in Edinburgh
The Crown Estate and Hercules Unit Trust, advised by British Land and managed by Schroders, have created a new concept double-fascia store for HMV and Waterstone’s at their Fort Kinnaird shopping park in Edinburgh.
To creat the second out-of-town store of its kind in the UK, HMV has doubled its unit size by relocating to a 15,180-sq ft store. At the same time, it has introduced Waterstone’s and a Starbucks concession on the mezzanine level.
Mark Bowles, property director at HMV Group, said: “Fort Kinnaird has been a great location for HMV, but we were confident we could do more. When the opportunity arose to upsize and introduce Waterstone’s, we seized it, adding a Starbucks to help increase dwell time in-store.
Out-of-town, we see double-fascia units as a key area of growth and regard Fort Kinnaird as a template for both how we execute the stores, and the types of location that we will be focusing on.”
Fort Kinnaird's agents are Morgan Williams, Montagu Evans and Eric Young and Co.
