Over 25,000 people turned out to see boy band The Wanted switch on the lights of one of Britain’s biggest Christmas trees - standing at 90 feet tall and decorated with 100,000 lights and 80,000 baubles - at McArthurGlen’s Cheshire Oaks Designer Outlet.
The Wanted - who headlined the outlet centre’s official Christmas launch – were joined by Eliza Doolittle and X-Factor’s Diva Fever and Belle Amie who helped to attract almost double the number of people at last year’s festive show.
Shaun Rhodes, marketing manager at Cheshire Oaks Designer Outlet, said: “The lighting of the tree has always been a hugely popular family event for the outlet, but we’re delighted that we were able to attract a bigger crowd than ever before to this year’s Christmas launch.
“We always felt that this year’s line up was particularly strong and the massive turnout on Friday served to confirm this - The Wanted in particular went down an absolute storm with the crowd.
“The tree lighting was a great way to kick off the festive season, and we’d like to thank all the acts and everyone in the crowd for making it so special.”
