Americandy pop-up store opens at Highcross

Published:  16 November, 2010

Amercandy, which specilalises in American confectionary, soft drinks and groceries has opened a pop-up shop at Highcross, Leicester, until the end of January.

Americandy, which is based on the Upper Mall at Highcross, serves famous stateside chocolates including an extensive range from Hershey’s, Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups and Wonka bars. It also offers baking products from the likes of Betty Crocker and serves iconic breakfast treats such as Pop Tarts and Lucky Charms.

The store’s success was evident in its first few days of trading with co-owner, Johann Long,  even suggesting that its trading period may be extended beyond January.

Jo Tallack, deputy general manager at Highcross, said: “Pop Up Stores are a unique and popular way of showcasing a retailer’s offering for a limited time only, and we’re expecting Americandy to do exceptionally well in the forthcoming festive season.

“The store complements our retail mix perfectly and is a great addition to Leicester, particularly with Christmas fast approaching and Thanksgiving (November 25) just under a month away for those with Amercian roots looking to create traditional celebrations at home.”

In another pop-up deal, gift specialist Hawkin’s Bazaar is set to return to Highcross for the festive season following a temporary spell last year.
