Centenary Ashcroft to manage Sheffield’s Moor project

Published:  12 November, 2010

Scottish Widows has appointed Centenary Ashcroft as asset and development manager on its mixed-use, retail-led Moor Sheffield scheme

Scottish Widows purchased The Moor Estate from RREEF in February 2010 and has been working extensively with Sheffield City Council since then to finalise the first phase of the project, Block Six: a deliverable 200-stall markets and retail development consisting of eight units.

Centenary Ashcroft will work with SWIPPT to develop the long-term strategy for the regeneration of the whole area, which is some 24 acres in total.

Leading the team at Centenary Ashcroft will be Ranald Phillips and Ian Moorcroft, both of whom possess proven track records for delivery of large-scale retail-led developments stretching back over many years.

Centenary-Ashcroft director Ranald Phillips said: “We are delighted to have been appointed to lead the development of Moor Sheffield. We have been closely following activity on the Moor for almost a decade. We believe that its redevelopment represents an opportunity to help with the regeneration of Sheffield’s city centre retail core and, in the process, add significant value for SWIPPT by realising Moor Sheffield’s strong income growth potential.”

Kerri Hunter, deputy fund manager at SWIPPT said: “Moor Sheffield is viewed as an important long-term project for SWIPPT and it was therefore crucial that we secured the right asset management team: one that was able to demonstrate enthusiasm and commitment. We hope that their involvement will help us to maximise the potential of the Moor and, through refurbishing and redeveloping parts of the estate, improve the retail offer and drive forwards the performance of this property.”
