The Apprentice filmed at The Trafford Centre

Contestants on BBC programme, The Apprentice - where entrepreneurs fight it out to land a job with Lord Alan Sugar – opened two pop-up shops at The Trafford Centre in Manchester, as part of a task in last week’s episode.
Two teams with little or no retail experience battled it out to make the most money selling boutique clothing in one-day-only pop-up shops, in the end making between £3,000 - £4,000 each selling sequined party dresses and recycled fashions.
Team Apollo also managed to secure a short-film ad, shown four times every hour on screens in the centre’s foodhall, in a bid to increase sales and impress Lord Sugar.
Gordon McKinnon, director of operations at the centre, who featured in the show when one team failed to open for trade on time, said: “We were intrigued when the show producers approached us to ask if we would host this episode of The Apprentice – partly because we enjoy the show, and partly because we thought this would be great for our customers to see and experience.
“It was good to see The Trafford Centre being featured in such a high-profile TV programme – but it was also great fun on the day of filming itself. Whilst some customers clearly worked out what was going on, for most it was just two new store openings - although both units will shortly be opening with more permanent tenants; a new enlarged Apple store, and Foot Asylum.”
