Westfield launches food market concept at Stratford City

Westfield is to incorporate a food market into its 2 million-sq ft Stratford City project

The Great Eastern Market will be located on the lower level of the mall, outside the 32,000-sq ft Waitrose store which site beneath the John Lewis anchor store.

Bill Giouroukos, director of operations at Westfield, said that food markets are a part of all Westfield’s regional malls in Australia, so it has the systems and experience to operate them.

“Markets encourage regular repeat visits, and they add an element of theatre to a centre,” he explained.

“Westfield Stratford City will create a new city within a city and as such will comprise all of the elements of a thriving town centre including retail, dining, leisure and entertainment, hotels, offices, homes and public plazas. The Great Eastern Market will be a key part of this offer which will underpin Westfield Stratford City’s proposition as a major new lifestyle destination for London and beyond.”
