Westfield Stratford 75% let

Westfield have announced that the retail element at Westfield Stratford City, anchored by Marks & Spencer and John Lewis, is now 75 per cent and on track for opening in September next year.

Complementing the leisure and entertainment venues, which will include a state of the art 14-screen Vue cinema, are over 50 places to dine across four distinct areas within the scheme.

The Loft dining area within the Central Arcade is fully leased with leading restaurants Wagamama, Nandos, Las Iguanas, Strada, Jom Makan, Pizza Express, TGI Friday, GBK and Giraffe.

Westfield has also reported that Westfield London, which is now 100 per cent let, is on track to achieve sales of over £800m in its second year compared to £700m in year one. Footfall is also growing at over 22 per cent on last year.

Michael Gutman, managing director of Westfield UK/Europe, said: "We are delighted with the way Westfield London, celebrating its second birthday this weekend, continues to strengthen its appeal to the consumer. Sales have increased 31 per cent for the quarter on a total basis and 26 per cent this quarter on a like for like basis. The centre is firmly establishing itself as a must visit London destination to shop, dine, eat, see a film, or just hang out.

"Everything we have learned at Westfield London is being applied to Stratford and we are confident the consumer will be equally delighted with the end product and the experience and buzz we will create."

New retailers NW3 and Coach have chosen Westfield London for their UK debut. They follow Gilly Hicks (part of the Abercrombie and Fitch group) and Dior Homme who signed for their first UK stores at Westfield London earlier this year.

Other new signings this quarter include Whistles, Superdry, Phase Eight and Toywatch, as well as new restaurants LPQ and Busaba Thai.

From mid-November the centre will be home to a full size ice rink right through the Christmas and New year period.
