Miles for Smiles in Morpeth

Published:  20 October, 2010

Morpeth’s Sanderson Arcade has hosted treadmill challenge Miles for Smiles as part of a bid to raise £35,000 in a year for the Children’s Foundation in Newcastle

Rival centre managers Tim Lamb from Metrocentre and Eldon Square’s Phil Steele were invited to take part in the charity event and raced on treadmills to cover a mile in the fastest time.
Sanderson Arcade centre manager Debbie Anderson, said: “Tim and Phil are both great sports for taking part and they’ve helped us to raise more than £5,000 for The Children’s Foundation in Newcastle which is a fantastic amount.
“The event was a lot of fun and it was in aid of a great cause but I have a feeling they’ll be wanting a rematch next year.”
Tim Lamb
added: “That was hard work but really enjoyable, whilst I was able to squeeze out a victory, the most important thing is that we have helped to contribute to a very worthwhile cause and hope that our efforts go some way toward the Miles for Smiles collection target.”
