Womenswear store to trade from smaller  footprint

TK Maxx has taken 16,000 sq ft at Mell Square in Solihull to create its first womenswear-only store. The move could open the way for the US fashion discounter to open in smaller locations.

In Solihull landlord Aviva created the space by combining the former Bon Marche and Pure Party stores, and TK Maxx agreed to take a 10-year lease at £375,000 pa, doubling the previous rent obtained from the space. The store will open for business in Spring 2011.

TK Maxx  spokesperson Helen Gunter said: "We are very excited to be opening up a new store in Solihull.  We've created a boutique feel to the store to create a more intimate shopping experience that's in keeping with a smaller store environment.”

GCW and Cushman & Wakefield acted on behalf of Aviva.
