Mermaid Quay, the leisure and retail destination located on Cardiff’s Waterfront, has enhanced its tenant mix with three new lettings
The first Côte Brasserie in Wales is due to open in late November in a 3,747-sq ft unit that faces the Wales Millennium Centre across the public entertainment arena Roald Dahl Plass. Côte currently operates 15 restaurants – mainly in the South East of England, with two more due to open shortly. Awarded the Best Value Restaurant in the UK by the Good Food Guide, Côte is backed by restaurant entrepreneur Richard Caring, who also owns some of the UK’s most highly acclaimed restaurants such as The Ivy, J Sheekeys, Le Caprice in London as well as the Soho House Group and Wentworth Golf Course.
Latin American restaurant Las Iguanas is to open a 4,692-sq ft restaurant on the waterfront at Mermaid Quay with views across Cardiff Bay. And local entrepreneur Margaret Studt, who already operates two successful restaurants at Mermaid Quay, Demiro’s and Eddie’s Diner, is to open VIP Lounge - a 1,490-sq ft champagne bar on the first floor overlooking Roald Dahl Plass and Bute Crescent. The bar will be above the new Côte and adjacent to Wagamama.
The lettings are part of an ongoing asset management programme being implemented by Mermaid Quay’s owners Schroder Exempt Property Unit Trust and asset manager Sovereign Land which has included taking back leases to accommodate new operators and reconfiguring space to create new opportunities.
Joint letting agents for Mermaid Quay are Reid Rose Gregory and Philip Hughes Davies. Teague & Capital acted for Cote and Insight Retail represented Las Iguanas.
