Published:  31 August, 2010

Spur Steakhouse is set to open a 3, 911 sq ft unit and Metrocentre, Gateshead, in a bid to increase the catering offer at the centre.

The Steakhouse, which originated in South Africa and is aimed at family dining, will join food outlets such as Yo! Sushi, Nandos and Pizza Express.

Martin Breeden, director of asset management, northern portfolio, at Capital Shopping Centres, said: “Metrocentre is the largest covered centre in Europe, and, as this recent letting illustrates, is a very popular restaurant location.

“Metrocentre Qube is one of the best loved leisure and dining destinations in the country, among operators and shoppers alike, and we are confident that the interest in acquiring space at the centre will continue, as two further units adjacent to the steakhouse are currently under offer.”

The Metrocentre Partnership was represented by Shelley Sandzer and Spur Steakhouse was represented by Insight Retail Consulting.
